Congrats on completing your call!
Let’s get started :)
This is a lot of information, but it’s all necessary to make sure everything goes smoothly and you get your license as fast as possible.
Make sure you bookmark this page to refer back to, and read this entire post a couple of times.
If you have any questions at all please reply to any emails from SHANNA (not Alex). Shanna and Jen are our customer service specialists and will be able to quickly help you out. Before emailing them, have a look at the end of this post for some of the most asked questions we get.
We have organized things into 4 steps, and then the frequently asked questions.
Step 1: Check out our “How to Grow Guide”
This is more for beginners or intermediate growers. It is an incredible source of information and links out to other more in depth articles on a number of topics.
There are a ton of product recommendations we have all tested personally, and it’s all available on Amazon. You can literally order your entire set up right to your door!
Most people like to bookmark this page to refer back to while they get set up..

Step 2: Get started on your ACMPR Forms
1. Download the Health Canada forms here – https://www.cannabisgrowingcanada.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Personal_Production_Form.pdf
If that link doesn’t work for you, just google “ACMPR application forms” and click the first link, you will find them. Asking us to send them to you will only get you the exact same link as above.
2. Print them out and complete them with pen. They make look daunting at first, but they just ask the same questions over and over. The forms should take about 15 minutes to complete.
3. Send the ORIGINAL copy of the prescription we send you, along with the Health Canada application to Health Canada headquarters. The address is on the front page of the forms.
We suggest sending it overnight post with tracking. This way you can prove to HC when it was sent, and they must sign to receive it. This avoids any excuses on their end about lost documents.
If you have any questions about how to fill out the forms please call Health Canada at 1-866-337-7705. We are not legally allowed to advise you on their forms no matter the circumstances. They are the professionals, and it’s best to go to source!
Step 3: Join Our Facebook Community
This is a private group we have created (no one will be able to see you have joined it, or know what you post about). It is a fantastic place to meet fellow growers, ask questions, and learn some tricks of the trade.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. When will my prescription be shipped and will I get a tracking number?
Your prescription will be mailed out no later than 24 hours after your appointment. It goes directly from the practitioner to your doorstep.
Only follow up with us if its been more than 21 days since you had your appointment. In normal circumstances it would be 3 to 5 days for it to arrive, and often it still is. Sometimes though some bad luck seems to pop up and it could take up to 3 weeks.
We only see about 1 in 1000 get lost, so even it seems like it’s taking a long time, don’t worry it’s on the way.
Because of covid we no longer send with tracking. That classifies it as a “parcel” and they have been taking up to 6 weeks to arrive. Regular post is much faster. Please check your mailbox daily and don’t worry, it’s on the way :)
2. Do I need my landlords permission to grow in a rental
NO! You do NOT need to.
Health Canada has made the wording on the form very confusing. If you read closely you will see it says “if you do not own the property AND do not live there”. If you live at the rental property, you do not need to tell your landlord.
In the section where it asks about this, you will see a box to check and skip the landlord part.
If you are still a little unsure, or want to be extra sure please call Health Canada and they will walk you through everything 1-866-337-7705.
3. Should I sign or initial the medical document you sent me?
NO! Please do not write anything on the prescription (medical document).
The box on the second page is meant for internal use only. If you sign or initial this your application will be sent back and you will delay things be at least 2 months.
The prescription is complete and ready to go, send it in just as it is.
4. How long is the process and when will I get my license?
You should have your prescription at your door in less than a week if Canada Post does their job correctly.
You need to send the prescription to Health Canada to register. They in turn send you the license. You are looking at a few weeks in the best case scenario, but often a little longer. No one can promise or guarantee a Health Canada wait time, its all very random.
With Covid things are delayed further right now. It’s just a matter of patience, but don’t worry it will eventually show up and you will be approved :)
5. Will you be contacting me for renewal?
Yes, you will get an email from us to remind you about the renewal when it’s time. Your email is saved in our system and we got your back :)
6. Can I upgrade on my renewal?
Yes, you can upgrade at any time. We will be emailing you in about 6 months from now to remind you, but if you just had your appointment, or are about to and need an increase let us know. As long as the prescription hasn’t been shipped you only pay the difference.
7. Can I grow indoors and outdoors at the same time?
I am sure you did your research beforehand and know this already, but some people don’t so we have decided to send a message to everyone to remind them.
When you select BOTH indoor and outdoor it will lower your plant count. Our prices and options use the word OR.
Lets use a 5g prescription for example. This is just an example, your prescription maybe for a higher amount.
A 5g means you will have 25 indoor OR 10 outdoor plants. If you choose to grow both indoor AND outdoor you will not get the full amount of each. This isn’t a way to trick Health Canada into more plants, otherwise why would anyone just choose indoor, it’s not logical.
Health Canada has somehow come up with the math to license you for the plants they feel you need to get you to you grams per day. They feel 25 indoor plants OR 10 outdoor plants will get you to 5g a day. If you choose to grow both indoor and outdoor they recalculate to get you to the right plant count.
Using our calculator in the link below you will see an indoor/outdoor split licnese will get you 19 indoor and 5 outdoor.
This is thouroughly explained on our webiste here – https://www.cannabisgrowingcanada.com/acmpr-calculator/ – we even built a calculator that has rengineered Health Canadas math to give you the exact amount you get :)
In the past this has upset a couple of people that didn’t do their research, and they have mentioned that we should have outright told them. The issue is Health Canada has 100s of pages of various regulations, we can’t send them all. No one would read them… This is why we have it on our website, it’s on Health Canada’s website, and we are mentioning it here again.
If you feel you need a larger prescription at this point just let us know and you will only pay the difference in price and we will mail you a new one. No questions asked, no extra postage charges.
Mistakes happen and we can fix it.
